We work with a variety of different industry professionals to teach on our courses. We spend time selecting the right tutor for each course in order to create the best experience possible for the participant. Below is a selection of tutors we are currently working with:

SCOTT GRONMARK- Creative Alchemy Interactive TV

After stints as a publisher, writer and television news and current affairs producer, Scott Gronmark joined BBC Online in 1997 as Homepage Editor, before moving to Interactive TV, where he oversaw the launch of 24/7 services on all digital TV platforms.   A year later he took charge of all BBC programme-related interactivity, acting as 'Head of Production, Strategy and Commissioning'. Scott left the BBC in early 2004 to form his own consultancy, Scott Gronmark Associates. The SGA team advises clients on interactive TV, PVR and VOD strategy and services. Clients include Zip TV, Teachers TV, PACT, and several iTV technology companies. In addition, Gronmark conducts workshops, writes regularly for industry journals, and sits on several major interactive TV awards panels.    

IAN MURPHY- Shake Ian has been working as a digital compositor for four years. He enjoys working closely with film makers and animators and working across both stylised and photorealistic types of moving image making. Clients include Rushes Post Production, Passion Pictures, Collision Films and Intro. Ian has a wide overview of the digital post industry, and has taught on the Digital Compositing course at the Madrid Film School ECAM. Ian is a Shake tutor on the new Digital Post Production course at the NFTS.

DAVE BARNARD- First Post Programme

Originally from independent arts & documentary video background, worked as online video tape editor on music and documentary projects including U2's ZooTV. Persuing an interest in computers in media production, gained an MA in Interactive Media at Royal College of Art, and worked at a number of Soho facilities including TSI and Smoke & Mirrors. Recently Post Production Technical Supervisor on the Jim Henson Company feature film "Mirrormask" designing the CG, SFX and DI post facility and workflow. Currently working on production projects and developing facilities and training for HD film makers in collaboration with London Film Academy.

ST.JOHN WALKER (Course co-ordinator) Shake

Saint ran the first Visual effects training School at the National Film and Television School, and has recently written an MA in Motion Graphics and a Foundation Degree in Games Design. His book on Digital Compositing, published by Focal Press should be out in 2006, and he has recently created the animated graphics for BBC2's 'Look Around You' comedy series.

OLI SORENSON–Vjing

Born in L.A., Oli Sorenson AKA VJ Anyone started performing in 1997, at Tigas club in Montreal (Sona). Based in London since 1999, he has delivered sound reactive video performances alongside top players across the music industry (from Tiesto to Darren Emerson, Goldie to Ritchie Hawtin) all over the world (from Ibiza to Tokyo, New York to Dubai). Also a prolific contributor to London’s VJ scene, VJ Anyone has delivered many lecturing and promotion projects.

MEIRION HUGHES- Broadcasting and programme production.

Meirion is Technical Director of Amethyst Consulting Services Limited and is a highly experienced engineer with extensive knowledge of broadcasting and programme production. His television career started at the BBC nearly three decades ago and has since worked for a number of ITV companies. He played a significant role in the introduction of digital broadcasting into the UK launching the first commercial Digital Terrestrial Television operation in the world and now provides consultancy services in the UK and overseas.

JULIET STURRIDGE- First Post Programme

Juliet has worked in the off-line sector of Soho’s post-production world for the last 20 years.  As Managing Director first of OBE Limited, and then of The Whitehouse Post Productions Limited, she has run and developed two of London’s most successful creative editing companies, working in commercials, feature films, and documentaries.  Over the last two years she has worked with both First Post and the Metropolitan Film School to create training programmes to advance the financial, administrative and customer-oriented perception of people starting in the business.

MATTHEW VYZE- Induction Programme

Before becoming a Director of 1st Option Safety Services Matthew worked for the BBC where he managed a team of Occupational Health Nurses and Safety Advisers providing operational and strategic support to all Drama, Film, Entertainment, Factual & Learning, Events and Commissioning departments.  Mat was instrumental in designing and developing the key production safety training courses and now delivers a portfolio of courses to the Broadcasters and Independent sector of the Media industry. HUGH WATERS- First Post Programme

Hugh Waters has been involved in television technology management since 1981. He has held posts as Chief Engineer & Technical Director before becoming Managing Director of Molinare Ltd, a post he held for 4 years. Since 2002 Hugh has been running his own Technical Management Consultancy, based in the West of England, working with a diverse range of clients, from Government departments, Soho Post Houses to Overseas Broadcasters. Hugh's other activities also include training, writing, Internet consultancy & public speaking. In his spare time he sleeps.

 

Tim Wright- An Insync Seminar

Tim Wright is a digital writer, an interactive producer and a director of XPT Ltd. His writing credits include two BAFTA-winning interactiveprojects: the comedy self help disk 'Mind Gym' and web & email drama 'Online Caroline'. He also created the popular collaborative web fiction (and BBC Radio 4 play) 'In Search of Oldton'Tim is currently attempting to use his web narrative skills to plan a golfing trip to the moon. http://www.xpt.co.uk
